Exiled writer Taslima Nasrin has expressed her desire to return to Bangladesh. In an open letter, posted on Facebook, to interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus, she referenced his earlier support for her return. In her letter, Taslima quoted Yunus as saying, "What else is not allowed? This is your country, and your right to go and stay here is your birthright. No government has the right to prevent you." "Yunus had promised to help her return," she said in the letter. Taslima Nasrin left Bangladesh in 1994 following protests over her criticisms of religion and subsequently moved to India in 2004. She currently resides in New Delhi.

নির্বাসিত লেখিকা তসলিমা নাসরিন দেশে ফিরতে চাইছেন। এ বিষয়ে অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের প্রধান উপদেষ্টা ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসকে খোলা চিঠি দিয়েছেন তিনি। এর আগে তসলিমাকে দেশে ফিরে আসার জন্য বলেছিলেন ড. ইউনূস। সেই কথা মনে করিয়ে দিয়ে ফেসবুকে ‘খোলা চিঠি’ দিয়েছেন তসলিমা। ফেসবুকে লেখা ‘খোলা চিঠি’তে তসলিমা লিখেছেন, ইউনূস তাকে বলেছিলেন, ‘যেতে দেয় না আবার কী? ওটা তো আপনার দেশ, আপনার দেশে আপনার যাওয়ার, থাকার অধিকার আপনার জন্মগত। আপনাকে বাধা দেওয়ার রাইট কোনও সরকারের নেই।’ তসলিমা জানান, তিনি যাতে বাংলাদেশে ফিরতে পারেন সেই চেষ্টা ড. ইউনূস করবেন বলে কথা দিয়েছিলেন। প্রসঙ্গত, ‘ধর্ম নিয়ে সমালোচনা’র অভিযোগে বিক্ষোভের মুখে ১৯৯৪ সালে তসলিমা নাসরিন দেশ ছেড়ে ইউরোপে পাড়ি জমান। পরে ২০০৪ সালে ভারতে যান তিনি। বর্তমানে দেশটির রাজধানী দিল্লিতেই থাকছেন তসলিমা নাসরিন।
