The local administration has suspended tourist ship operations on the Teknaf-Saint Martin’s route due to rough weather. The local administration on Wednesday morning (December 6) took the decision of suspending tourist ship operations from Saint Martin's jetty, considering the safety of the tourists. Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Md Adnan Chowdhury said operations of all tourist ships to Saint Martin's Island will remain suspended till next announcement. Saint Martin union parishad chairman Mujibur Rahman said around 250 tourists are currently staying in the island now. Steps will be taken so that they do not face any kind of problem.

টেকনাফ থেকে সেন্টমার্টিনে পর্যটকবাহী জাহাজ চলাচল বন্ধের ঘোষণা করেছে স্থানীয় উপজেলা প্রশাসন। বুধবার (৬ ডিসেম্বর) সকালে থেকে জাহাজ চলাচল বন্ধ থাকবে। আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তর বঙ্গোপসাগরে ৩ নম্বর সতর্ক সংকেত জারি করায় যেকোনো ধরনের দুর্ঘটনা এড়াতে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়। টেকনাফ উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) মো. আদনান চৌধুরী জানান, বৈরী আবহাওয়ার ফলে সমুদ্র উত্তাল রয়েছে। যার কারণে অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা এড়াতে বুধবার থেকে পরবর্তী নির্দেশ না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত সেন্টমার্টিনে পর্যটকবাহী জাহাজসহ সব ধরনের নৌযান চলাচল বন্ধ থাকবে। সেন্টমার্টিনে বেড়াতে গিয়ে ফিরতে না পারা পর্যটকরা পরিস্থিতি ভালো হলে ফিরতে পারবেন। তাদের দেখভালের ব্যাপারে নির্দেশনা দেওয়া আছে বলে জানান ইউএনও। সেন্টমার্টিন ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান মুজিবুর রহমান বলেন, জাহাজ বন্ধ ঘোষণার পর ২৫০ জন পর্যটক দ্বীপে অবস্থান করছেন। তাদের যাতে কোনো ধরনের সমস্যা না হয় সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখা হবে।
