Former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh and former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has expressed concern over the recent vandalism of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's house at 32 Dhanmondi in the capital. He said that terrorists, not students, are behind the vandalism of Bangabandhu's house.

He said these things at a program titled 'India's Foreign Policy Roadmap with Focus on Immediate Neighborhood' in Bidhannagar on Saturday.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, 'House number 32 in Dhanmondi is not only the house of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, it was a memorial, archive and documents of the Liberation War in 1971. I think this is an attempt to destroy the spirit of the Liberation War. There were no students behind this, all those who were there were terrorists. This is not at all pleasant for the people of Bangladesh.’

He said, ‘It is very important for us that Bangladesh remains safe. Bangladesh shares the largest border with us. So if there is instability or adverse situation in the country, it will also affect our country.’

Noting that a change has taken place in Bangladesh recently, he said that the secular narrative of Bangladesh has changed.
