This budget people-oriented amid economic crisis: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has termed the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 as a people-oriented and realistic budget during the ongoing economic crisis.
“There is no precedent for a fianance minister of Awami League running around with bag of alms despite announcing a Tk 8 lakh crore budget,” he said while addressing a press conference on the proposed budget at the Bangabandhu Avenue Awami League office on Saturday (June 8) at noon.
He said thousands of crores of taka were smuggled out of the country during BNP government’s tenure. Mirza Fakhrul must give account to the nation for the money with which their leader Tariq Rahman is living a luxurious life in London.
Responding to economists' comments on the proposed budget, Obaidul Quader said, “The country's economists are now divided. Negative feedback about the budget can be heard from BNP's economists. Organizations like CPD and TIB also speak in tune with BNP.”
Quader claimed that most of the country's economists have supported the proposed budget.
Awami League presidium members Advocate Kamrul Islam and Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Sujit Roy Nandi, Publicity and Publication Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, and Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan, among others, were present at the press conference.
