Observing that the police have been demonised, Home Affairs Adviser to the interim government Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hussain has said that those who did this, must be prosecuted.

He said this while talking to reporters after visiting the BGB members undergoing treatment at the BGB Hospital at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital on Tuesday (August 13) afternoon.

He said, “The police are very remorseful now. When I was coming here (Pilkhana), I saw students working with the police on the road. Those who demonized the police must be brought to justice. Just have a little patience. There are several processes involved in taking government action, so be patient."

About joining of the police to work, the home adviser said, “Everyone is joining. I will be able to say how many police have joined and how many have not on Thursday (August 14).”

M Sakhawat Hossain said, "We are thinking of forming a police commission so that the police become a humanitarian force in the future. The policemen also said that they want to stay under the police commission. They don't want to be used politically."
