Three arrested over obstructing Ivy’s arrest

Police arrested three people in a case filed for obstructing the arrest of Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy, former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, and attacking the police.

They were arrested during a raid in the Shaheed Nagar area of the city late Monday night.

The three arrested are—popular food vlogger Mithun (36), his uncle Mohammad Hanif (50), and Hanif’s son Jannatul Ferdous Jisan (21). Mithun’s wife, Mahmuda Akter, has also been named as an accused in the case.

Ziaul Islam Kajol, president of the Sommilito Sangskritik Jote, said, “Mithun is a well-known content creator. Several of his videos supporting the July uprising were widely shared on social media. It is unfortunate that Mithun has been arrested.”

Meanwhile, a separate case has been filed over the attack on the police convoy while taking Selina Hayat Ivy after her arrest.

The case was filed on Monday night, accusing 252 people, including local online portal journalists and Awami League leaders and activists.
