In a murder case filed by Shajreh Haque, daughter of Transcom Group founder Latifur Rahman, the High Court (HC) has ordered three persons, including her sister and the Group’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simin Rahman, to surrender before the court within 72 hours of their return to the country.

This directive comes in connection to the case surrounding the suspicious death of Arshad Waliur Rahman, the brother of Simeen Rahman. An HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order on Sunday (March 31).

The other two are Transcom Group's current Chairman Shahnaz Rahman and Head of Transformation Jaref Ayat Hossain.

Lawyers Nurul Islam Sujan, Mahbub Ali, Shah Manjurul Haque and Mohammad Siddique Ullah Mia heard on behalf of the top three executives of Transcom Group while Assistant Attorney General Abul Kalam Khan Daud appeared for the state.

The order was pronounced on Sunday (March 31), following a petition filed by Shajreh Haque, the youngest daughter of the late chairman of Transcom.

Haque lodged a murder case at Gulshan police station, alleging a conspiracy leading to the demise of her brother, Arshad Waliur Rahman.

According to the details provided in the case statement, Shajreh Haque asserted that she, along with her deceased elder brother Arshad Waliur Rahman and Simin Rahman, were rightful heirs to all movable and immovable properties of their father under Muslim Sharia law.

The allegations state that Simin Rahman and his son Jaif engaged in fraudulent activities, forging documents with the intention to deprive Shahreh and Arshad of their rightful inheritance, including shares and positions within the Transcom Group established by their father, Latifur Rahman.

Things escalated when Arshad Waliur Rahman, last year on June 8, granted power of attorney to address the fraudulent actions of Simeen Rahman. Subsequently, Simeen Rahman purportedly expressed hostility towards Arshad, citing concerns for his own safety.

Tragically, Arshad fell severely ill on June 16 and was discovered unconscious in his Gulshan-2 residence. Despite no prior complications or illnesses, Arshad's condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to his untimely demise.

Shareh Haque's statement further details her presence at the scene of her brother's death, where she alleges that the accused did not disclose any information regarding Arshad's health. Instead, they hastily transported him to United Hospital in an attempt to obtain a death certificate before hastily arranging his burial.

Suspicion arose among medical professionals when Simeen Rahman was brought to the hospital, with doctors indicating that he had passed away long before arrival.

Besides, the family doctor advised against involving the authorities, raising further questions surrounding the circumstances of Arshad's death.

In light of these compelling allegations, Shahreh Haque points to a premeditated conspiracy involving multiple unidentified suspects, totalling 11 accused individuals.

It is suggested that these individuals conspired to poison or suffocate Arshad Waliur Rahman, aiming to usurp his rightful inheritance of immovable property.

Shajreh Haque, daughter of late Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman, has filed four cases against eight Transcom officials, including her elder sister and current CEO of Transcom Group, Simin Rahman, and the group's current chairman and their mother, Shahnaz Rahman, due to disputes related to the company's property and shares.

In one of these cases, Shajreh Haque accused Simin Rahman and 11 of murdering his elder brother Arshad Waliur Rahman.

Shajreh, the younger daughter of Latifur Rahman, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station last March 21 night.
