Three students drown in Padma river in Rajshahi
Bodies of three missing madrasa students were recovered from the River Padma in Rajshahi on Tuesday (April 23). They went missing after bathing at Shyampur Balur Ghat in the upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Md Jubaraj, son of Md Nerun of Motihar upazila, Md Nuruzzaman, son of Md Noor Islam, and Md Arif, son of Md Liton.
Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence Station's senior station officer Abu Sama confirmed the matter.
He said, "A group of teenagers went to take a bath in the Padma at Shyampur Balur Ghat in Rajshahi around 1.00pm on Tuesday. Three of them drowned in the water. Upon receiving the news, our team of divers immediately initiated rescue operations. The bodies of three teenagers were recovered with the efforts of the divers."
Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of the Rajshahi naval police, said, "We went to the spot as soon as we got the news. The bodies of three teenagers have been recovered. The bodies will be handed over after taking legal action."
