Tk15 lakh ransom paid, Kidnapped Sonali Bank manager rescued

The Kuku-Chin National Front (KNF), an armed group operating in the hills, released Nizam Uddin, the manager of Sonali Bank's Ruma branch, following the payment of a Tk15 lakh ransom.

He was rescued through the intervention of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of Rab's law and media wing, confirmed the matter on Thursday (April 4) evening.

Earlier in the evening, Sonali Bank authorities paid the Tk15 lakh ransom demanded by KNF to free the kidnapped bank manager.

The family of the kidnapped official, Nizam Uddin, stated that the money was handed over to a representative of the KNF before the iftar in the evening.

Earlier on Tuesday, the KNF abducted Nezam Uddin after being failed to rob the Sonali Bank’s Ruma branch and demanded a ransom of Tk 15 lakh from his family members for his safe release.
