Top Rohingya drug dealer Nobi Hossain arrested with foreign weapons
The APBN arrested Nobi Hossain (47), the head of the notorious Myanmar-based terrorist organization Nobi Hossain Group, and his brother Syed Hossain (45), also known as Bhulu. During the arrest, two foreign pistols and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.
Captain Md Iqbal of the 14 Armed Police Battalion and Additional DIG confirmed the matter at 10:30 pm on Saturday (August 31). He said that Nobi Hossain, son of the late Mostak Ahmed from Rohingya Camp No. 8, East Block-B/41, Ukhia, along with his brother Syed Hossain, also known as Bhulu, 45, were arrested.
Md Iqbal stated, "On the night of Friday, acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid at Rohingya Refugee Camp-8/West, under the Irani Pahar Police Camp in Ukhiya Palangkhali Union. The operation targeted the Main-Block-B, Sub-Block-I/14 area, where the suspects were arrested and two foreign pistols along with eight rounds of ammunition were recovered."
He added, "Nobi Hossain, who was arrested, is the main leader of Myanmar's terrorist organization Nobi Hossain Group and is known as the mastermind behind the yaba smuggling operation from Myanmar to Bangladesh."
In the Rohingya camp areas of Ukhia and Teknaf in Bangladesh, Nobi Hossain controlled his own armed group. He used this force to carry out killings, kidnappings, and yaba smuggling.
In February 2022, the BGB offered a Tk 10 lakh reward for information leading to the capture of Nobi Hossain. He is also wanted in several cases.
