Secondary schools to open Saturday, primary schools Sunday
Secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutes are opening from next Saturday (May 4) after being closed due to the month of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and severe heat wave.

The Ministry of Education will not appeal against the High Court (HC) order to suspend classes in primary and secondary schools and madrasas till next Thursday (May 2) amid the ongoing heatwave across the country, said Public Relations Officer of the ministry Md Abul Khair on Tuesday (April 30).

Schools and colleges which are now closed due to the ongoing heatwave will open on Sunday next.
Schools with less than 50 students to be merged with nearby ones
Schools across the country with less than 50 students in the last 10 years will be merged with neighbouring schools, Primary and Mass Education Ministry Secretary Farid Ahmed said.
