Tourist centres reopen in Sylhet as flood situation improves
All the tourist centres of Sylhet have reopened one by one with the gradual improvement of the flood situation.
All the tourist centres of Goainghat, Companiganj and Jaintiapur upazilas were opened on Sunday (June 23). Earlier, the tourist centers were closed twice due to flood situation.
The tourist centres of Goainghat upazila were opened on Sunday morning. Later on the same day, Sadapathar of Companiganj upazila and Lalakhal of Jaintapur upazila were opened for tourists.
Companiganj upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sunjit Kumar Chanda and Jaintiapur UNO Umme Salik Rumaiya confirmed the matter.
Earlier, the tourist centres were declared closed in two phases this year after the flood situation worsened in Sylhet.
In the first phase, all the tourist centres of Sylhet were announced to be closed on May 30. Later, after the flood situation improved, those were opened onJune 7.
The tourist centres were declared closed again on June 18 in the face of deteriorating flood situation.
