Tourists can visit Bandarban from November 7

Bandarban is going to open its doors for tourists from November 7 after being closed for a long month.

Restrictions have been lifted for tourists to visit the tourist spots of four upazilas, Bandarban Sadar, Alikadam, Lama, and Naikhongchhari, on a limited scale.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin announced this at a press briefing at Bandarban district administration conference room on Wednesday (November 6) morning.

Bandarban Superintendent of Police Shahidullah Kawsar, Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Manzrul Haque, Bandarban Hotel Resort Owners Association President Sirajul Islam, General Secretary Jasim Uddin, District Restaurant Owners Association President Ghiyas Uddin, Tourist Jeep Owners Association President Nasirul Alam, among others, were present at the briefing.

DC Shah Mojahid Uddin said the tourism industry is the life of the people of Chattogram Hill Tracts. On the basis of the opinion of the relevant agencies of the government, four upazilas have been opened for tourism on a limited basis.

“The government has travel restrictions in the remaining three upazilas of Ruma, Thanchi and Rowangchari. Tourists must follow the government's restrictions for safety reasons. We request the cooperation of the businessmen related to tourism in keeping the tourist spots clean so that the tourists do not leave the items taken to the travel places as waste,” he said.

The government has a policy decision to open all tourist spots in Bandarban for travel in near future, the DC said.

Mentionable, due to unavoidable reasons, tourists were discouraged from traveling to Bandarban from October 8 to October 31 by the administration. The restrictions were in force till November 5.
