Battery operated rickshaw drivers have blocked roads in different areas of the capital Dhaka. As a result, the commuters are suffering due to heavy traffic jams on the roads.

The battery operated rickshaw drivers blocked roads in Mohakhali, Mohammadpur, Mirpur, Gabtali and Demra areas on Thursday (November 21). They did not leave the road even though the police asked them to move to keep the traffic flowing.

Meanwhile, due to their blockade, traffic in those areas is completely blocked.

Contacted, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Md Ziaur Rahman (Traffic-Gulshan Division) said that the battery operated rickshaw drivers blocked the road at Mohakhali junction after 9:30 am. About 1,500-2,000 drivers gathered together, but none of them brought rickshaw. They came on foot and suddenly took position on the road.
