Truck-microbus collision claims 5 lives in Habiganj

Five people, including four members of the same family, were killed in a head-on collision between a microbus and truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district early Thursday.

Badrul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter.

He said, "The Dhaka-bound microbus from Sylhet collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction around 2:00 am on Thursday. Five people, including the microbus driver, died on the spot. They went to Sylhet in a private car with the whole family to visit Mazar."

"On information, locals, Madhabpur Fire Service, Shayestaganj Highway and Madhabpur Police rushed to the spot and conducted rescue operations. The bodies are in the custody of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station," he added.

Hailing from Barisal district, the deceased resided on rent in the Savar area of Dhaka, where they worked in a garment factory.
