Trump says Zelensky seeks agreement to stop Ukraine War

Newly elected US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is interested in reaching an agreement to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Trump made the statement in response to reporters' questions after his inauguration on Monday (January 20).

According to a BBC report on January 21, while there had been hopes for the war to conclude within a week, it has now persisted for nearly three years. Trump expressed optimism that Zelensky is willing to pursue peace, stating, "I think Zelensky is very willing to end this war."

Trump had previously stated his desire to end the conflict early in his presidency, aiming to take action on his first day in office.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed support for a ceasefire, calling for measures that would safeguard the interests of all parties involved.
