US President Donald Trump said that his first international trip could be to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump said on Saturday that his first foreign destination "could be Saudi Arabia" even though traditionally US presidents visit Britain.

Trump said that the last time he traveled to Saudi Arabia it was because the Arab kingdom agreed to buy billions of dollars worth of US merchandise.

Trump visited Saudi Arabia on his first foreign trip after taking office as president for the first time in 2017. During his first term, he identified Saudi Arabia as an important energy and security partner for the United States.

The Saudi government gave Trump a warm welcome during that visit. In addition, Trump's sword dance there was much discussed.

Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has expressed his interest in investing $600 billion in the United States during the four years of Trump's second term.
