Two cousins drown in Jashore

Two children have drowned in a pond in Joykrishnapur village under Jhikargachha upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Shafin, son of Saiful Islam Bachchu, and his cousin Meherini, daughter of Zahir Uddin. Both the children are three years old.

Both children were reportedly playing in the yard near their home around 11:00am when they went missing.

According to family members, the children could not be found after an initial search of the house and surrounding areas. Eventually, the search led to a nearby pond adjacent to their residence, where their bodies were discovered.

The incident has left the families devastated, mourning the untimely loss of two innocent lives.

Local authorities have been informed and the bodies were recovered around afternoon.
