Two killed in CNG-microbus collision in Chattogram
Two people lost their lives in a head-on collision between a CNG auto-rickshaw and a microbus in Anowara of Chattogram. Two others sustained serious injuries and were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
The accident occurred around 8:30am on Saturday (May 31) in the Mazar Gate area along the Anowara-Banshkhali PAB Road.
The identities of the deceased were not immediately confirmed. The injured have been identified as Alomgir (28) and Brishna Das (29), both residents of Banshkhali. They were traveling in the CNG auto-rickshaw.
Eyewitness Md Wazed told the media, "The CNG was coming from Chambol of Banshkhali with passengers when it collided head-on with a microbus coming from Chattogram city near the Mazar Gate area. Two CNG passengers died on the spot. Two others were seriously injured and taken to CMCH. The CNG was badly damaged."
Anowara Health and Family Planning Officer, Dr. Mahatab Uddin Chowdhury, said, "The two seriously injured were brought to Anwara Health Complex. As their condition was critical, they were referred to CMCH after primary treatment."
Md. Monir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Anowara Police Station, said, "Police recovered the bodies after being informed of the incident. Once their identities are verified, legal procedures will be completed and the bodies will be handed over to their families."
