Ubaidul Kabir Chowdhury new Red Crescent Society chairman

Professor Dr Md Ubaidul Kabir Chowdhury has been appointed as the Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS).

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Private Health Management-1 Branch of the Health Services Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday (April 25).

The notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Snehashish Dash said, 'By virtue of Article 10(1) of The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Order, 1973 (President's Order No. 26, 1973), Professor Dr. Md. Ubaidul Kabir Chowdhury has been appointed as the Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society for the next threr years from April 28, 2024. This order was issued in public interest.

Dr. Md. Ubaidul Kabir Chowdhury has left a mark of outstanding talent in various social activities including medicine in his long career of almost 50 years. He is a life member of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

Prof. Dr M. U. Kabir Chowdhury is a well regarded, internationally reputed, one of the leading Dermatologist and pioneer Skin Surgeon in Bangladesh. He has a brilliant academic and professional record. After graduation from Dhaka Medical College in 1974, he has started his career as a medical teacher in 1976 at Dhaka Medical College. He has obtained specialty in Dermatology and Venereology with excellent grade and top of the list from university of Vienna in 1985.

Thereafter he received intensive training in Paediatric Dermatology, from Vienna University Hospital, Skin Pathology from American Academy of Dermatopathologist, Skin Laser Surgery from Harvard Medical School, training in Sexual Medicine from The University of British Columbia, Canada and Skin Surgery from All India Medical Institute, India.

He got Swadhinata Padak-2020 for his outstanding contribution in health services in the country.
