Unsafe LP gas cylinder trading, Consumer Affairs Department fines
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined an organization in Bogura for selling and storing LP gas cylinders in a risky manner.
The operation was conducted in Tinmatha area of Sadar around 3.00pm on Tuesday (March 12). It was led by Iftekharul Alam Rizvi, assistant director of the Bogura office of the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection.
The name of the fined organization is Bogura Cylinder Exchange Point, owned by Abdul Rafiq.
Confirming the matter, Iftekharul Alam Rizvi said, "During the inspection of the market, it was seen that the organization did not have the necessary approvals. There were cylinders stored everywhere. At the same time, there was no adequate security system."
He also said, "The company was conducting business in a risky manner. For these reasons, the company was fined Tk1,00,000."
"This kind of supervision will continue for the betterment of the public," Rizvi added.
