US proud being partner of Bangladesh: Anthony Blinken

United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken extended congratulations and warm wishes to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Independence Day on March 26.

Blinken said in a statement that the United States is looking forward to strengthening the partnership and people-to-people relations between the two countries in the coming days.

He said, "The United States is proud to partner with Bangladesh on some of the most pressing issues in recent times including tackling climate change, advancing economic development, responding to the Rohingya refugee crisis, supporting global peacekeeping operations, and addressing global health challenges."

Blinken said the partnership plays an important role in ensuring a free, open, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

He said, “Bangladesh is celebrating another year of independence, so we reiterate our commitment to strengthen democratic governance and protect human rights. These efforts will further enhance the prosperity of Bangladesh.”
