Uttara Motijheel metro rail to run till night from Saturday
Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), M A N Siddique, said that the metro rail will operate from Uttara to Motijheel starting from January 20, running from morning to night.
He said this at a press conference at Pravasi Kalyan Bhaban in the capital on Thursday.
Currently, in the Agargaon-Motijheel section, the metro rail operates from 7:10 am to 11:30 am. However, a change is scheduled to take effect from Saturday, where the entire route will run from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm.
The operation of the metro rail in the Uttara to Agargaon section started on November 29, 2023, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurating the service a day earlier. The journey from Agargaon to Motijheel started on November 5. The Prime Minister also inaugurated this section the day before its official launch.
The metro rail currently serves 16 stations, namely Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazi Para, Shewrapara, Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbag, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Secretariat, and Motijheel. Expansion work is ongoing up to Kamalapur. Once completed, Kamalapur will also be connected to the metro rail network.
