Uttarakhand Avalanche: 4 dead, 5 still missing

Tragically, 4 Border Roads Organization (BRO) workers lost their lives, and 5 others remain missing in the devastating avalanche struck the Mana area in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.

However, of the 55 workers present at the site, 46 have been successfully rescued, reports Times Of India.

The injured workers are being airlifted to the Joshimath Army Hospital for further treatment.

Rescue teams are working around the clock to locate the missing individuals and provide assistance to the survivors.

The avalanche struck the village of Mana on Friday (February 28). The workers, assigned to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), highway construction site, were stucked under 6-7 feet of snow.

The IAF’s Mi-17 helicopter, three Cheetah choppers, two state govt helicopters, and an ambulance helicopter from AIIMS Rishikesh were deployed on Saturday morning, but “helicopter operations halted at 3.00pm due to snowfall in Mana”, a senior official said.
