Voting underway in 19 Union Parishads

Voting for the general elections is underway in 19 Union Parishads (UPs) across 8 districts of the country. The voting started at 8:00 am on Sunday (April 28) and will continue till 4.00pm

The Union Parishads where elections are currently being held include Dakshin Hamchadi, Dalal Bazar, Bangakha, Laharkandi, and Tewariganj of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila; Azimpur, Farakkabad, and Birol of Dinajpur; Puthia of Rajshahi; Kamalapur and Bhuria of Patuakhali Sadar; Amtali of Barguna; Alipur of Satkhira Sadar; Kuti of Brahmanbaria; Islampur, Islamabad, Jalalabad, Eidgaon, and Pokkhali of Eidgaon Upazila in Cox's Bazar.

The Election Commission has formed a monitoring cell to monitor the elections. According to the commission, this cell has been formed with officials from various law enforcement agencies and ministries.

Earlier in 2022, the Election Commission concluded the voting for 4,500 Union Parishads through seven phases.
