Voting underway in third phase of Upazila polls

The third phase of the sixth upazila parishad polls is underway in 87 upazilas across the country.

Voting began from 8:00am on Wednesday (29). It will continue until 4:00pm.

The Election Commission has implemented all necessary measures to ensure the elections are free, fair, and peaceful. To support this, 140,861 members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been deployed. Additionally, 300 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are stationed across the country.

According to the EC, polling is scheduled in 109 upazilas in this phase, but due to Cyclone Remal, the commission has postponed the polling of 19 upazilas on Monday and 3 upazilas on Tuesday. As a result, voting will be held in 87 upazilas on Wednesday.
