Voting will be closed only if election situation is uncontrolled: EC

Election Commissioner Md Alamgir said the overall situation of two city corporations, municipality, district parishad and union parishad elections is good, but if it goes out of control, the voting will be stopped.

He said this while talking to the reporters at his office in the election building on Wednesday (March 6).

EC Md Alamgir said, "Along with Mymensingh, Comilla City corporation, municipal parishad, district parishad and union parishad elections will also be held on March 9. The overall situation is fine, but if it goes out of control the voting will be closed."

He said, "Our preparation is good in all aspects. As part of necessary measures to maintain law and order, forces and additional magistrates have been provided as per demand. I hope the election will go well."

Regarding the two city corporation elections, he said, "We do not have such information that the law and order situation will deteriorate in the two city elections. Still, as a precaution, we have given the additional force they have requested from the district administration, police administration. If the situation goes out of control, instructions have been given to call off the center elections."
