Wall collapse claims two lives in Barishal
Two people died when the under-construction wall of a multi-storied building in Barishal city collapsed onto an adjacent food hotel due to the impact of Cyclone Remal.
The incident occurred around 4:30 am on Monday (May 27), near the Rupatali Lilly Petrol Pump in the city.
The two deceased have been identified as Lokman Hossain, the hotel owner, and Muksedur Rahman, an employee. Additionally, another employee, Shakib, was seriously injured in the incident and has been admitted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Arichul Haque, the officer-in-charge of Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed the incident.
Ward No. 25 Councilor Sultan Mahmud said, "A construction wall above the roof collapsed in the stormy wind and fell onto the nearby tin-shed food hotel. At that time, the hotel owner and two employees were sleeping under the tin shed."
Later, when they were rescued and taken to the hospital, the doctor declared both of them dead.
