Water to get costlier in Dhaka

Dhaka WASA has decided to increase the price of water by 10 percent from July 1.

WASA authorities have fixed the price of per 1000 liters water for residential customers at Tk16.70, which was earlier Tk15.18.

For commercial customers, the price of the same amount of water has been fixed at Tk46.20, which was Tk42 earlier.

Dhaka Wasa issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.

It reads that according to the section 22 of the Wasa Act 1996, the price of water has been increased in order to adjust the inflation.

It further said that this decision will be effective in all types of (water and sewage) charges including unmetered holdings, deep tube wells, buildings under construction and minimum bills.

Last in July 2022, Dhaka WASA increased the price of water by five percent.
