Pointing out that girls are moving forward, Sheikh Hasina said, 'I am telling boys, don't stay behind. We want you to study at the same pace.'

প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন, এসএসসি ও এইচএসসিতে ছেলেরা কেন মেয়েদের তুলনায় পিছিয়ে যাচ্ছে, সেটা খুঁজে বের করতে হবে। দেখা যাচ্ছে যে, এ বছর ছাত্রীদের পাশের হার একটু বেশি। এটার জন্য ধন্যবাদ। কারণ সবসময় আমাদের শুনতে হয় জেন্ডার ইকুয়ালিটির কথা। এখন তো উল্টো হচ্ছে। রোববার (২৬ নভেম্বর) সকালে গণভবনে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর কাছে চলতি বছরের এইচএসসির ফলাফল হস্তান্তরের পর তিনি তার বক্তব্যে এ কথা বলেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, 'ছেলেরা কেন পিছিয়ে থাকল, সেটা খুঁজে বের করতে হবে। প্রতি বছরই দেখছি মেয়েদের পাসের হার বেড়ে যাচ্ছে। এক সময় তো মেয়েদের পড়াশোনাই করতে দিত না। অনেক দেশে এখনো মেয়েদের পড়াশোনা করতে দেয় না।' মেয়েরা এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে উল্লেখ করে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, 'ছেলেদের বলছি তোমরা পিছিয়ে থেকো না। তোমরা পড়াশোনা করে সমান তালে চলো, সেটাই আমরা চাই।' এ বছর এইচএসসি-সমমান পরীক্ষার ফলাফলে মেয়েদের পাশের হার ছেলেদের তুলনায় তিন দশমিক ৮১ শতাংশ বেশি উল্লেখ করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, 'জিপিএতেও মেয়েরা এগিয়ে। যা হোক আমি ছেলে-মেয়ে সবাইকে আমার আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন জানাই।' তিনি আরও বলেন, 'এখন আর শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে গিয়ে রেজাল্ট খুঁজতে হয় না। আজ মোবাইল ফোনে ডিজিটাল পদ্ধতিতে ফল দেখা যায়। এজন্য আমি সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে ধন্যবাদ জানাই।' এ ছাড়াও পরীক্ষায় যারা উর্ত্তীর্ণ হতে পারেনি, তাদের প্রতি সহানুভূতিশীল হওয়ার অনুরোধ জানান প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা।
