We will not accept armed men: RAB DG
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) M Khurshid Hossain has said that the law enforcement agency will not tolerate the existence of any armed organisation in the country.
“Those who have gone astray will surely understand what is good for them. They want to live peacefully. If someone mistakenly commits any crime I think he will understand his mistake. You know the Sarbahara Party surrendered to the RAB, and we rehabilitated them in different ways,” he said while addressing a press briefing at Bandarban Circuit House on Wednesday (April 17) afternoon.
The RAB DG said, “The pirates have also surrendered. We have also rehabilitated them. We want those who have gone astray to leave the path of arms. They have to understand what they are doing is not right. If they want to surrender, we will rehabilitate them. We will do whatever it takes to rehabilitate. But we will not accept armed people in a free country.”
Referring to the separatist armed organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), Khurshid Hossain said, “The drives of the joint forces will continue until they come to the path of peace. We have just started the campaign. The scale of our campaign will gradually increase.”
Commenting about the recovery of government weapons looted by KNF from Ruma, he said, “We are trying in different ways. Everyone including our intelligence agency is working. We are hopeful that we will be able to recover the looted weapons soon.”
Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin, Superintendent of Police Saikat Shaheen, Colonel Sohail Ahmed of Bandarban Sector Headquarters, and Colonel Mohammad Asadullah Jamshed of DGFI, among others, were also present at the briefing.
