When the Awami League government was ousted from power, Moniruzzaman Milan joined a joyous procession brought out at Ashulia near Dhaka on August 5. He has been missing since that afternoon.

Even after three months, his family do not know whether 32-year-old Milan is alive or dead.

Relatives complain that even though his brother Samiul Islam filed a General Diary (GD) with Ashulia Police Station on August 21 regarding Milon's disappearance, the police are not paying attention.

Milon hailed from Jordagacha village of Sariakandi upazila in Bogura, was the supervisor of Four A Yarn Dyeing, a garment factory. He lived with his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Mansura Maria in a rented house on Ashulia Thana's Buribazar road.

Milon's wife Sbita Khatun told Views Bangladesh that she returned to Bogura with her daughter on July 28. At the time of disappearance, Milon was alone in Ashulia's rented house.

According to Sabita, she last spoke to her husband on the mobile phone around 3 pm on August 5. Milan said that he is in a joyous procession in Ashulia after the fall of the government.

"I tried to contact Milan many times since 4 pm, but the calls were not received. The phone was found to be switched off since evening.," she said.

Saabta got married to Milan about two years and seven months ago. To get her husband back, she is running to all possible places with her small daughter and in-laws.

Relatives including Milan's mother Marina Begum said that they went to Ashulia police station and saw the burnt bodies. Initially, Milan's body was not found there. He was not found even after searching nearby hospitals and private clinics. They are still not sure if Milan is alive or dead.

Milan's wife and his mother said that Milon was a supporter of BNP. The party gave Tk 50,000 last Wednesday (November 6) and Tk 20,000 a month ago.

However, the interim government is yet to look for Milan's family members. So far no one from the administration has come. As a result, the whole family is in despair.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar Siddique said, "I have not yet seen the general diary filed by Milan's family. Something can be said after seeing it."
