Woman trampled to death while collecting zakat in Rajbari

A woman (60) died after being trampled while trying to collect Zakat money in Rajbari.

However, the woman's name could not be known. The incident took place in Bhavanipur area of the city on Sunday (April 7) around 7:00am.

Sources said around 5,000-6,000 men and women thronged in front of the house of at Delwar Hossain, a prominent businessman of Rajbari on Sunday morning to collect Zakat money. At that time, the woman fell on the ground and was trampled to death.

Later, she was rushed to Rajbari Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajbari Sadar Police Station Md Iftekharul Alam told the media that the body of the woman is in Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Efforts are underway to identify her. After identification, further legal action will be taken in this regard.
