The seventh Women's SAFF Championship kicks off today in Kathmandu, Nepal, and will last until October 30. In the first match, India will play against Pakistan.

Bangladesh will begin its tournament on October 20, facing Pakistan. This year, seven countries are participating. Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan are in Group A, while Group B includes the host nation Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. The semifinals will take place on October 27, and the final match will be held on October 30.

Bangladesh is the defending champion, having won the title for the first time in 2022, led by captain Sabina Khatun. The team is determined to keep the trophy this time. Sabina mentioned in a press conference that it will be a tough challenge to defend their title, and she shared the team’s goals and plans for the tournament.

The Bangladesh women's team did not play any warm-up matches before this championship. However, their English coach, Peter Butler, remains hopeful about their chances of winning, as the team has many talented players who can change the game. The players are confident in their skills and ready to perform well on the field.
