Workers to get salary-bonus before Eid-ul-Azha
The workers of all sectors including the readymade garment (RMG) will be paid their salaries and bonus before the start of the holy Eid-ul-Azha vacation.
The decision was made at a meeting in the capital's Shram Bhavan meeting room on Wednesday (May 15), presided over by State Minister for Labour and Employment Ministry and President of the Tripartite Consultative Council (RMG-TCC) Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
At a press briefing after the meeting, the state minister said, “The decision will be taken on the basis of agreement between the employers and the workers so that the workers can enjoy the Eid peacefully with their loved ones. The owners will not be allowed to sack workers or lay-off factories before the Eid.”
Secretary to Labour and Employment Ministry Mahbub Hossain, Additional Secretary Jahangir Hossain, Director General of Labour Department Tariqul Alam, Inspector General of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Abdur Rahim Khan, BGMEA representative Rafiqul Islam, BKMEA Executive President Mohammad Hatem, Jatiya Sramik League President Nur Qutb Alam Mannan, President of Combined Garments Workers Federation Nazma Akhter, and President of Bangladesh National Garments Workers League Sirajul Islam Rony, among others, took part in the meeting.
