Youth killed in Dhaka road crash

A 15-year-old youth was tragically killed in a road accident on the Kalshi flyover in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Siam, a garment worker and son of Abu Bakkar of Mirpur Eastern Housing area.

According to Riaz, Siam’s brother-in-law, on the night of January 16, Siam, riding a motorcycle, was struck by a speeding truck under the Kalshi flyover around 11.00pm. The impact caused him to lose control and crash onto an island.

He was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, where the doctor declared him dead at 12:30am.

Inspector Md. Farooq, in charge of the DMCH Hospital Police Camp, confirmed the death. He said, "The body has been kept in the hospital’s emergency department morgue. The incident has been reported to the relevant police station."
