Youth lynched over alleged rape attempt on 4-year-old girl

A youth was beaten to death for allegedly trying to rape a four-year-old girl in the Dhan Bhandar Road area of ​​Barisal city.

The deceased was Sujon, 24, son of Monir Hossain of the city's Dhan Bhandar Road area.

Kotwali Model Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman said that locals caught the youth and gang-lynched him on Saturday (March 15) afternoon. Later, he was rescued and admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where Sujon died while undergoing treatment.

He said that Sujon allegedly tried to rape a child in the Zianagar area on Friday (March 14) afternoon. When the child fell ill, she was admitted to the One Stop Crisis Center of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. The child's mother accused Sujon in the incident and filed a rape attempt case with the police station on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased denied the allegations.

She claimed that his son was innocent. He was framed for refusing to sell drugs. Later, some people offered to settle the matter for Tk20,000. When he did not agree to this, 10/15 people including local Badhan, Bachchu, Swarna and Saddam tied his son to a tree and beat him to death.

Meanwhile, Manju Begum has demanded justice for the murder of her son.
