Yunus's remarks on judicial process is untrue and insulting: Anisul
Law Minister Anisul Huq has said that Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus's remarks on the judicial process of the country is untrue and insulting to the people of Bangladesh.
He said: "Yunus's trial is proceeding in the same manner as it would for any other citizen of the country."
"However, what Younus keeps saying about his trial is untrue and insulting to the people of the country," he added.
The minister said this while talking to reporters on Wednesday.
A Dhaka court on Wednesday (June 12) framed the charges against Prof Muhammad Yunus and 13 others in a case filed over Tk 25.22 crore embezzlement of Grameen Telecom Workers' Profit Participation Fund.
Regarding the matter, Anisul said: “The European Union wants to know from us about Yunus' trial process. We informed that what Younus keeps saying about his trial is untrue and insulting to the people of the country.”
If any citizen of the country breaks the law, he will be judged. Yunus is also being judged in the same way. However, Law Minister Anisul Haque commented that the things he is saying are untrue and insulting to the people of Bangladesh.
He said this to reporters after meeting with two European delegations in the conference room of the Ministry of Law at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 12).
Anisul Haque said that the case of tax evasion is considered as an important case by various countries of the world including Western countries. Just like that. The case of Yunus is being conducted. There is a tax evasion case against him. In one case he went all the way to the Appellate Division and paid tax after losing.
The law minister said that labor laws, artificial intelligence laws, data protection and cyber security laws were discussed with the European delegation. A team from their Election Commission came, what are we thinking in terms of the report in that team, the Rohingya issue and the latest anti-discrimination bell were also discussed with them.
He also said that they wanted to know when we are going to pass the labor law. I told them - we want to end the complaint filed against us in the International Labor Court. I told them that we have done enough work on labor laws. I am also working on amending the labor law. I think the matter should be closed. We have spoken to them to support us at their governing body meeting next November.
