Enchanting view of Kanchenjunga visible in Panchagarh

The mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga has appeared in the skies of Panchagarh even before the official arrival of the season. Due to favorable weather and cloudless skies, the snow-capped mountain peak was visible to the naked eye from various areas of the border district on Tuesday. Seeing such a clear view of Kanchenjunga around 10am at the very beginning of August has generated excitement among locals, many of whom recorded videos of the scenery and shared them on social media.

The appearance of the peak transforms when morning light or late afternoon sun rays strike the snow-covered mountain, shifting between white, pink, and reddish hues depending on the sun's position and varying light. However, the view gradually fades as the day progresses. Typically, the clearest and most captivating views of Kanchenjunga from Panchagarh are witnessed during the winter season.

Alongside Kanchenjunga, Tetulia in Panchagarh boasts several other natural attractions. After sunset, the lights of the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Siliguri in India can be seen from the Tetulia Dak Bungalow area. The daytime snow-capped peak and the magical evening view of distant mountain lights create an added attraction for tourists.

From the Banglabandha land port, the distance to Nepal is approximately 61 kilometers, Bhutan 64 kilometers, Darjeeling 58 kilometers, and Siliguri about 80 kilometers. Due to its proximity to India, Nepal, and Bhutan, the border areas of Panchagarh are steadily growing in popularity among domestic tourists.

How to Go:
Panchagarh can be reached from Dhaka's Kamalapur by intercity trains such as Ekota, Drutojan, and Panchagarh Express, with ticket fares ranging from approximately 695 to 1,600 Taka per person depending on the train. Long-distance buses are also available from Dhaka's Gabtali, with AC and non-AC fares ranging from about 850 to 2,050 Taka.

Upon arriving in Panchagarh town, visitors can travel to various scenic spots such as Tetulia, the banks of the Mahananda River, the Dak Bungalow, and Banglabandha using local buses, autorickshaws, or private cars from the bus terminal or railway station.

However, the most crucial factor for viewing Kanchenjunga is a clear sky. If the sky is cloudless, a glance toward the distant horizon during the morning or afternoon can reveal this breathtaking, snow-covered mountain peak.
