Engineer Mosharraf Hossain admitted to ICU

Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, a presidium member of the Awami League and former minister, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) after falling seriously ill.

Prison sources confirmed that the veteran politician was transferred to the hospital due to age-related complications. Senior Jail Superintendent of Dhaka Central Jail (Keraniganj), Suraiya Akter, stated that Hossain became ill on August 4 and was subsequently hospitalized for advanced medical care.

Mosharraf Hossain has been in custody since October 27 last year. He was arrested by the Detective Branch of police from the Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka, following the fall of the Awami League government. After his arrest, he was produced before the court, where Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Md. Ziadur Rahman, ordered him to be sent to jail.

Hossain’s condition is reported to be critical, and he remains under close observation in the ICU.
