Rohingya infiltration unstoppable, locals in fear
Rohingyas are again infiltrating into Bangladesh through Teknaf, Ukhia and Naikshyongchari borders. More than 15 thousand have already entered in several phases. Not only that, over 50,000 Rohingyas are waiting to enter. It is estimated that 60,000 to 70,000 Rohingya are currently waiting in the no-man's land area.

DU to eradicate ‘Gono Rooms’ in dorms
The Dhaka University administration decided on four key measures, including scrapping the system of gonorooms in residential halls. The decisions were made during a virtual meeting of the Provost Standing Committee on Monday chaired by Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury.

Clash breaks out between Dhaka College, Ideal College students
First-year students from Dhaka College and Ideal College clashed around 12:00 pm on Tuesday (10 September), leading to traffic disruptions in the New Market area.

New Market police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohsin Uddin confirmed the matter. He stated, "The clash arose from a minor issue between students of the two colleges. However, the situation is now under control. Dhaka College students have returned to their campus, and traffic flow has resumed."

Political opportunists trying to replicate Bangladesh unrest: Mamata
Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of the Indian state has accused "political opportunists" of trying to take advantage of the situation developing out of the RG Kar rape-murder and seeking to replicate the Bangladeshi unrest to tarnish the state's image, Times of India reported on Monday.

India to continue work closely with interim govt: Pranay Verma
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma said that he will continue to work closely with the interim government to advance multilateral relations with Bangladesh.

He said this while briefing the media after a meeting with Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday afternoon.

Power generation stopped at Barapukuria
The power generation at the 525 MW power plant in Barapukuria of Dinajpur has been halted fully.

The only active unit of the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur was halted operations due to a technical issue around 6:30 pm on Monday.

Sunil Gangopadhyay's ancestral home freed from illegal encroacher
The ancestral land of novelist Sunil Gangopadhyay has been reclaimed through administrative intervention in Madaripur, following a three-day occupation by a local BNP leader.

The property, located in Purba Maizpara village in Dasar upazila, was freed on Tuesday after intervention by the upazila administration, with support from the Bangladesh Army.

Health care professionals present 8-point demand
Health care professionals has presented 8-point demand including removal of several high-ranking health officials from the previous government, along with Professor Dr. Robed Amin, the current Director General of Directorate General of Health Services.

They came with the demand under the banner of ‘Doctors, medical technologists, and nurses who fell victim to discrimination’ at a press conference held on Tuesday at DGHS in Mohakhali.

US Senate Majority whip expresses support to Prof Yunus
US Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin has expressed his support to Bangladesh's interim government led by Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, reports BSS.

On Monday, the whip took to the US Senate floor in Washington DC voiced his backing for Dr. Yunus, who faced decades of harassment by ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to press release received today.

Indefinite curfew imposed in Manipur as tension mounts
The authorities on Tuesday imposed an indefinite curfew in Imphal East and Imphal West districts from 11 am amid protests over the last two days for handing over the unified command to the Manipur government to oversee security operations in the ethnic violence-hit state.

The violence between Meiteis and Kukis triggered in May last year escalated this month with the use of drones and rockets in attacks.

Bangladeshi students can now apply for Romanian visa from Vietnam, Thailand
Bangladeshi students who received acceptance for study in Romanian universities can now apply for visas at the Romanian embassies in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Bangkok, Thailand, in addition to the Romanian embassy in New Delhi.

This was confirmed by the East Europe and CIS wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Tuesday.

US delegation including Donald Lu to visit Dhaka
Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu visits Bangladesh and India from September 10 to 16.

US Department of State issued a notice in this regard on Tuesday.

According to the note, throughout his trip, Assistant Secretary Lu will reaffirm the United States' commitment to supporting our partners' economic growth and promoting stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

India must engage directly with Bangladeshi people: Asif Mahmud
Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan stated that India must now engage in negotiations with the people of Bangladesh.

He made this remark as the chief guest at the anti-discrimination student movement discussion held at Cumilla Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon (10th September).

Asif said, "India has been negotiating with the Awami League for too long. Now, it’s time for them to engage with the people of this country. This government will implement the foreign policy decisions made by the people."
