Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has conducted an eviction drive beneath four metro rail stations in the capital to ensure the unhindered movement of commuters.

The drive was carried out on Thursday from 10:30am to 1pm, led by an executive magistrate of DMTCL. The state-owned metro rail operator later disclosed the details in a press release.

According to DMTCL, 20 to 25 illegal shops and makeshift stalls were dismantled and evicted during the operation covering the under-station areas from Uttara North to Pallabi. Additionally, shopkeepers in the vicinity were verbally warned against occupying the footpaths in the future.

During the drive, local residents and business owners were urged to keep the sidewalks beneath the metro rail network clear to ensure hassle-free and comfortable movement for passengers.

Personnel from the MRT Police, Turag Police Station, and Bangladesh Ansar assisted the executive magistrate during the eviction operation.

DMTCL authorities stated that such enforcement drives will be conducted regularly to maintain safety and passenger convenience across the metro rail corridors.
