Police arrested former Agriculture Minister Md Abdus Shahid from capital's Uttara on Tuesday night. Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC-media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the matter. He said that there are three murder cases against Abdus Shahid at the Uttara West Police Station related to the killings of students and protesters during the anti-discrimination movement in Uttara. He has been arrested from his residence in connection with those cases.

সাবেক কৃষিমন্ত্রী মো. আব্দুস শহীদকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে উত্তরা পশ্চিম থানা পুলিশ। মঙ্গলবার (২৯ অক্টোবর) দিবাগত রাতে রাজধানীর উত্তরা এলাকায় অভিযান চালিয়ে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশের (ডিএমপি) মিডিয়া অ্যান্ড পাবলিক রিলেশনস বিভাগের উপ-কমিশনার (ডিসি) মুহাম্মদ তালেবুর রহমান। তিনি জানান, বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলনে উত্তরায় ছাত্র-জনতা হত্যার ঘটনায় তার বিরুদ্ধে উত্তরা পশ্চিম থানায় তিনটি হত্যা মামলা রয়েছে। সেসব মামলায় তাকে তার নিজ বাসভবন থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে।
