Ex-DB officer Mahbub Hasan detained after beaten by locals in Rajshahi

Former Sub-Inspector Mahbub Hasan, also known as "DB Hasan," was beaten by locals and handed over to police on Saturday night (August 23) in the Bhadra Hajj intersection area of Rajshahi city.

Hasan, a former member of the Detective Branch (DB) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, was found hiding in a rented house when residents apprehended him.

He was later handed over to Chandrima Police Station and taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment under police custody.

Police officials confirmed that Hasan was dismissed from service last year following multiple allegations, including extortion and threats of crossfire. He had been in hiding since.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson and Additional Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman, said, "Hasan was arrested in connection with an extortion case filed at Boalia Police Station."
