Former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has been granted a 5-day remand in connection with the murder case filed at Uttara Purba Police Station. A Judge at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court passed the order this morning (November 13). Atiqul Islam, arrested on October 16 by Tejgaon Police from the Mohakhali DOHS area, faces three separate murder cases, includes the shooting death of Md Al Shahriar Hossain, the murder of auto-rickshaw driver Md Roni, and the killing of seventh-grade student Rakib. All three cases allege a joint attack by police, Chhatra League, and Awami League members on the anti-discrimination student movement. Advocate Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi, who is also implicated in the case, has been remanded for 3 days.

রাজধানীর উত্তরা পূর্ব থানার হত্যা মামলায় সাবেক মেয়র আতিকুল ইসলামকে ৫ দিনের রিমান্ড দিয়েছেন আদালত। একই মামলায় অ‌্যাডভোকেট মমতাজ উদ্দিন আহমেদ মেহেদীরও ৩ দিনের রিমান্ড মঞ্জুর হয়েছে। বুধবার (১৩ নভেম্বর) ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট আদালতের বিচারক তাদের এই রিমান্ড মঞ্জুর করেন। গত ১৬ অক্টোবর সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টার দিকে তাকে রাজধানীর মহাখালী ডিওএইচএস এলাকা থেকে ডিএনসিসি’র সাবেক মেয়র মোহাম্মদ আতিকুল ইসলামকে গ্রেপ্তার করে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশের (ডিএমপি) তেজগাঁও থানা পুলিশ। তার বিরুদ্ধে তিনটি মামলা রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলো, মো. আল শাহরিয়ার হোসেনকে গুলি করে হত্যার অভিযোগে মামলা, অটো রিকশা চালক মো. রনি হত্যা মামলা, সপ্তম শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থী রাকিব হত্যা মামলা। সবগুলো মামলায় বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলনে পুলিশ, ছাত্রলীগ ও আওয়ামী লীগের যৌথ হামলার অভিযোগ রয়েছে।
