A Dhaka court has ordered the freezing of 120 bank accounts belonging to former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, his family, and associates over corruption allegations.

Of these, 114 accounts hold Tk 439.45 crore, while six dollar accounts contain USD 24,790.

Acting judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court, Ibrahim Mia, passed the order on Thursday (August 28) following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC stated that a nine-member team comprising officials from the ACC, CID, and NBR is investigating allegations of money laundering against Saifuzzaman and his associates. Previously, 39 of his accounts had already been frozen.

The commission said preliminary findings linked Saifuzzaman and his interests to the accounts, making it necessary to block them during the ongoing investigation.
