Ex-MP Anwarul Haque passes away

Former Member of the Parliament for Manikganj-1 constituency (Daulatpur-Ghior-Shibaloy) A B M Anwarul Haque has passed away.

He died on Sunday (April 5) at around 8:00am while undergoing treatment at Shyamoli Specialized Hospital.

His personal assistant, Advocate Nizam Uddin, confirmed about the death.

Haque is survived by two wives, three sons, and two daughters.

Born in 1949 at Bachamara village under Daulatpur in Manikganj, Haque completed a diploma from Faridpur Polytechnic Institute and served for many years in the Roads and Highways Department before entering active politics. He was elected to the 9th National Parliament in 2008 and served as chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources.

During his tenure, he played a key role in approving the Jafarganj embankment project and implemented various development initiatives in his constituency.

His death has cast a pall of grief over the area, with political and social leaders expressing condolences to his bereaved family.
