Former Member of Parliament of Thakurgaon-2 Dabirul Islam has been detained by the police. He was arrested from a house of Awami League leader Awlad Hossain in Ramnath Hat area of Thakurgaon's Sadar Upazila on Wednesday night. Police Super of Thakurgaon Police Station Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter. The former Thakurgaon district Awami League president had gone into hiding ever since the Awami League government fell in the face of a student-led mass uprising, police say. Police conducted a raid on the home of former Awami League leader Alamgir in the Ramnath Bazar area on the basis of a tip-off on Wednesday night. Dabirul was found there. Two cases have been filed against Dabirul on charges of murder, extortion, and land occupation since the fall of the Awami League government.

ঠাকুরগাঁও-২ আসনে আওয়ামী লীগের সাত বারের এমপি দবিরুল ইসলামকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। বুধবার রাত ২টার দিকে ঠাকুরগাঁও সদর উপজেলার রামনাথ বাজার এলাকার একটি বাড়ি থেকে তাকে আটক করা হয় বলে জনান রুহিয়া থানার ওসি শহিদুর রহমান। দবিরুল ইসলামের বিরুদ্ধে ঠাকুরগাঁওয়ে চাঁদাবাজি, জমি দখল ও হত্যার দুটি মামলা রয়েছে। এই দুটি মামলার প্রধান আসামি তিনি।
