A Dhaka court has granted a 3-day remand to former MP Kamal Ashraf Khan Poton of Narsingdi-2 constituency in the murder case of Jubo Dal leader Shamim.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akhter issued the order on Monday.

Earlier, the investigating officer of the case presented the accused to the court from jail and applied for a 10-day remand. On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused applied for bail. After hearing both sides, the judge granted the accused a 3-day remand.

Police arrested Poton from Keraniganj in the capital on December 19. The court sent him to jail the next day.

It is to be noted that on October 28 last year, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations attacked a BNP rally in Dhaka with the help of police. Jubo Dal leader Shamim was killed in this incident. A case was filed at the Paltan Police Station in the capital on September 24 in this incident.
