Ex-MP Shahinur Pasha switches party again
Former MP from Sunamganj-3 constituency Maulana Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury has switched party again. He has recently joined Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis.
He joined the party by filling out the primary membership form at the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis office in Mohammadpur, Dhaka on Monday (December 16).
Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Maulana Mamunul Haque, Nayeb Amir Rezaul Karim Jalali, Joint Secretary General Jalal Uddin Ahmed, Ataullah Amin, Social Welfare Secretary Maulana Samiur Rahman Musa and others were present at the time.
Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury was involved in the politics of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam for 35 consecutive years. He was expelled from the post of central vice-president of Jamiat Ulema in 2023. After that, he joined Trinamool BNP. He lost the 12th National Parliament election by contesting from Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur and Shantiganj) constituency on the nomination of that party.
Shahinur Pasha was elected as a member of parliament from Sunamganj-3 constituency in 2005 by contesting from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. After that, he could not win even after contesting multiple times.
Shahinur Pasha's third party change has sparked widespread criticism in Sylhet.
